Adelaide Retro Computing Event
Time: 7:00pm
Date: Friday November 9, 2018
Location: Unley Civic Library Town Hall
181 Unley Road, Unley (corner Oxford Tce. & Unley Rd.)
We're very pleased to announce that Dr. Tom Tilley will be guest speaker at the event. For those unfamiliar with Tom, he's the man responsible for the giant Octopus Game & Watch that has been seen around Adelaide. And yes, Tom will be bringing in the Game & Watch on the night!
November’s event will be the last ‘BYO system’ event for 2018. In December we’ll be putting on a retro computing themed Quiz Night + BBQ + AGM. We’ve had a great year so far and we’re hoping to go out with a bang.
We want to see as many of you at our November event as possible. Remember, we love to see interesting and unique systems, so if you have something at the back of the shed that’s a little bit weird or unusual, dust it off and bring it in! This will be your last chance until February next year.
This will be a general ‘free-for-all’ event, meaning as long as its retro and computer-related we want to see it. If you don’t have a system to bring, that’s completely fine too. And if you’ve never been to one of our events, please come along!
There is a $4 door charge. Children under 12 are free.
We request that systems be dated 2001 or earlier. Please bring power boards and extension cables for your equipment. Tables and chairs are provided and we also have access to a kitchen and toilets. Tea and coffee will be available on the night.
Second hand sale tables for those wanting to sell retro systems and accessories will be available as usual.
The event starts at 7:00pm. For those exhibiting, please arrive by 6:30pm to set up.
There is parking on Oxford Terrace and in the shopping centre carpark opposite. If you have a lot of gear to lug in you can briefly park in the loading area behind the hall to unload your car. If you are not bringing in equipment please enter via the main library entrance on Oxford Terrace. A map can be found here.
We look forward to seeing you all there!

October 2018 Meeting Report
Thanks to everyone who came out for our Music & Computers night. It was a fun night of epic SingStar performances, SID chip sonics, Amiga MODs and demos, MIDI modules, Donkey Konga, Music Mousing and even a sighting of a rare Atari Falcon in action. Ewan and George did a great job with tea and coffee and getting eftpos up and running.
From next year on we'll be offering annual paid memberships, but you'll hear more about that when we have the details finalised. November's event will be 'un-themed' meaning all retro systems are welcome. We'll see you then!

ARC Music Event This Friday
Just a quick reminder about this Friday’s Music & Computers event. We like to leave it to our attendees to interpret the theme as they see fit. As long as there’s a retro computer somewhere in the mix, it’s all good!
We’ll also be offering tea and coffee at the event. I’ll be bringing along some Twinings English Breakfast and George will provide instant coffee and an espresso machine (there will be a small fee for espressos, instant is free). Just head over to the kitchen for your caffeine fix (on the left at the end as you enter the hall).
Meanwhile, our ARC social network ecosystem continues to expand. George is now actively posting on the ARC Instagram account. Be sure to check out his videos on classic Sierra and Lucasfilm games. And here's his Apple Lisa booting up!
Also don’t forget that ARC has a Tumblr page and a Youtube channel that we update regularly.
